Who Can Serve As A Registered Agent For Service Of Process in California?

Every legal entity in California is required to designate a registered agent. 

Corporations Code § 1502 requires that the registered agent be a natural person residing in California or a designated corporation.

If the registered agent is a natural person, the person's business address or residence address must be listed.

Since the registered agent's name and address is listed publicly on the California Secretary of State's website, the main reason to use a corporate registered agent is for privacy reasons if you do not want your names and home addresses listed publicly on the site.
